CCAA Labour Market Strategy Day I
In October 2016 CCAA held its first National Labour Market Strategy day in Ottawa, bringing together Industry, Educators, Organized Labour and Government, with the objective to develop a National Strategy to address the projected shortages.
From this event we formed a Labour Market Working Group and in turn, three sub-working groups looking at LMI data collection, Education and Outreach. By the time of our second event in October 2017, these groups had started to define a strategy based on three key issues:
-
Future Workforce: Ensuring a future supply of skilled labour
-
New Workforce: Ensuring new entrants are equipped with the right skills and are work ready.
-
Current Workforce: Ensuring existing workers have the skills to grow in their roles and that knowledge is not simply lost when key workers retire.
